How to Apply

Our admissions process will help you learn if a partnership with Live Oak Academy’s homeschool support program is a good fit for your family. We firmly believe that God has a special plan for each child, and we join with you in praying for God’s guidance during the admissions process.

For questions, please call or text our admissions staff at 408-355-4787 or send an email to admissions@liveoakacademy.org.

  • If you are interested in learning more about Live Oak Academy and would like someone to reach out to you, please inquire here.

We will send you an LOA Informational Video, as well as grade-level specific information.

  • After at least one parent has viewed the LOA Informational Video, you can request a class visit (K-6) or request a shadow for your student (7-12).

Class visits and shadowing can be helpful, but are not required. Parents with students entering grades K-6 can sign up for a class visit. A class visit consists of a parent or parents observing several classrooms, depending on how many grade levels they are trying to observe. Students in grades 2-6 are welcome to attend the visit with their parent(s).

Prospective students entering grades 7-12 can shadow one of our student hosts in their classes for 2-3 hours to get a feel for what it is like to be a student at Live Oak Academy.

Please complete one form for each student (required for both a visit or shadow)

    📋 Request a class visit

Request your visit or shadow as soon as possible, as many classes are full by the visit days after January. Please know that there might be late application or increased assessment fees when applying at a later date.

  • Complete and submit your application with our online form.

While applying, please keep in mind that:

    • School of Grammar is grades K - 6

    • School of Logic is grades 7 - 8

    • School of Rhetoric is grades 9 - 12

When you complete your application, the application fee and supplements must be submitted.

The application fee increases beginning on December 1. See Tuition and Financial Aid for prices and dates.

After we receive your completed application, the application and supplements will be reviewed by the admissions committee.

Supplements you will need for your application:

    For all grades:

    • A family photo

    • An individual student photo for the student's file

    For grades 2-3:

    • One writing sample from the past year

    • A copy of the most recent standardized tests, if available (taken no earlier than two years ago)

    For grades 4-8:

    • One writing sample from the past year

    • A transcript or grade report for the past two years (if available)

    • A copy of the most recent standardized tests, if available (taken no earlier than two years ago)

Please note that the application also requires a signature acknowledging respect for LOA's Confession of Faith.

  • All applicants will receive a full assessment. See the assessment fee table on Tuition and Financial Aid for information about assessment fees.

  • When invited, both parents and the applying student are required to attend a family interview with the Headmaster and a department head. Immediate family members can also attend, and, occasionally, other significant family members might be required to attend.

The purpose of the family interview is to further explore whether Live Oak Academy and your family are a good fit for one another.
