School of Rhetoric: Grades 9-12
Rhetoric is the art of communicating well. Once a student has obtained a knowledge of the facts (grammar) and developed the skills necessary to arrange those facts into arguments (logic), he must develop the skill of communicating those arguments to others (rhetoric). School of Rhetoric students practice presenting their ideas to others expressively, persuasively, and imaginatively. Writing essays, researching topics, and orating ideas help students develop their minds to formulate their own questions, to think critically and to articulate concepts clearly to others. Live Oak students polish these critical skills as they progress through their stimulating and challenging upper school classes.
