Admissions Process

Admission Process

Our step-by-step admissions process is designed to help you come to know if a partnership with Live Oak Academy will be a good fit for your family. We firmly believe that God has a special plan for each child, and we join you in praying for God’s guidance as you follow each step in our admissions process.

Step #1 – Read Two Documents
We ask that both husband and wife read two documents, which will give you a glimpse of who we are at Live Oak Academy.

Our Educational Philosophy
Confession of Faith

Step #2 – Attend an Information Night
Our Information Night is an important part of the admissions process, and we strongly recommend that both parents attend the first available event. At Information Night, families will be informed, in depth, about our educational philosophy, what a Christian and classical education means at the Academy, how it is incorporated into the classroom, how the parent/academy partnership works, and much more.

Step #3 – Fill Out the “Getting to Know You” Form

We want to get to know you and your student(s). Please submit our Getting to Know You Form.  We will need your submitted form five days prior to a scheduled Class Visit and Shadowing Day.

Step #4 – Class Visit & Shadowing Days
Class Visit and Shadowing Days will be announced at each Information Night. Parents with students entering K-6 are invited to sign up for a class visit when at least one parent has attended Information Night. Prospective students for 7th-12th grades can request to shadow one of our student hosts in their classes for half a day to get a feel for what it is like to be a student at Live Oak Academy.

Step #5 – Submit the Student Application
After completing the Getting to Know You Form, you can submit the online student application. Please allow 1-2 business days for the Getting to Know You form to be processed before you can access the Application form. High school applicants must complete the high school pages of the application.  The application will be reviewed only after all available attachments are received for each student, including the application fee.

Membership in the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) is a requirement for a student to be accepted into Live Oak Academy. To find out more about HSLDA, click here. A discount for membership is available through Live Oak Academy. To find out more, click here.

Step #6 – Student Assessments
The student application and the attachments will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee, and a decision will be made as to whether an assessment test is required. Please click on the link for current Assessment fees.  All K-1 students must be fully assessed. Assessment tests for K-1 are one-on-one; other grades might be tested in small groups. Please clear your student’s schedule for the next available test date.

Step #7 – Family Interview
This in-depth interview with two admissions committee members must include both parents and applying student(s). The purpose of the interview is to help all parties determine whether Live Oak Academy is a good fit for your family. Following the family interview, your family and the Academy will prayerfully make a decision. The Academy will inform the family of acceptance and placement within two weeks of the family interview.

If classes are full, your family will be notified that the student has been placed on the wait list.
