STEPHEN MAYER attended Live Oak Academy during his high school years while his younger brother, Philip, joined LOA as a 6th grader. Both were homeschoooled from kindergarten through high school.

Stephen graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a B.A. in English and magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. He is a published and award-winning legal author, he has been inducted into both the Phi Beta Kappa and Order of the Coif honors societies, and he has won multiple awards for both trial and appellate advocacy. He currently works as a judicial clerk for the United States Court of Appeals, and he will subsequently begin work as a litigator in San Francisco.

An accomplished debater, Philip was the NCFCA Team Policy Debate Champion in 2008 and the top speaker in Lincoln-Douglas Debate at the STOA National Tournament in 2010. Like his brother, Philip also graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in English and is now attending Columbia Law School in New York City.


JosephRose

JOSEPH R. ROSE, the oldest child of Founding Board Members, John and Annie Rose, is an associate in the San Francisco office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.  He currently practices in the firm’s Litigation Department.

Mr. Rose received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2011, where he was Production Editor of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal, co-director of Berkeley Law’s McBaine Moot Court Competition, and a quarterfinalist in the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition.  He earned his B.A. in Law, Letters and Society, with special honors, from the University of Chicago in 2005.

Homeschooled from kindergarten through high school, Joseph was HSLDA’s National Team Policy Debate Champion in 1998 and 1999.

Joseph is married to Gabrielle, who taught at Live Oak Academy from 2006-2010.


LilaRose

LILA ROSE is the president of Live Action, a nonprofit dedicated to ending abortion and building a culture of life.

Lila founded Live Action when she was fifteen years old. The group is a new media movement dedicated to building a culture of life and ending abortion, the greatest human rights injustice of our time. Live Action uses powerful and dynamic media platforms to educate the public about the humanity of the unborn and investigative journalism to expose the threats against the vulnerable and defenseless.

Live Action also focuses on educating youth across the country, using its student magazine, The Advocate, and in-depth education programs to spread the truth about human dignity, equal protection for all people, and the evils of the abortion industry. Live Action hosts Live Action News, a widely read pro-life news site, and oversees the largest pro-life social media platform on the web, including over 600,000 Facebook fans and over 30,000 followers on Twitter.

Lila is a regular guest on The O’Reilly Factor, Hannity, The Laura Ingraham Show, as well as many other national TV and radio programs. Her work has been featured on practically every major news outlet, from CBS to CNN, from the Los Angeles Times to the Washington Post. Lila has also written for USA Today, First Things, Politico, The Hill, and others.

Recently, Lila was named among Red Alert’s “under 30”; also among National Journal’s “25 Most Influential Washington Women Under 35,” and Christianity Today’s “33 Under 33”. She has received a number of other awards, including a Life Prize Award and a Young Conservative Leadership “Buckley Award.”

In addition, Lila serves on the board for the Queen of Angels Charitable Trust Foundation in Los Angeles, CA and is an international public speaker on family and culture issues.
