Live Oak Academy is adding 2 other new AP® courses for 2017-2018: AP Studio Art 2D and AP Statistics.

AP Studio Art 2D:

The AP Studio Art course is for students interested in a rigorous and focused study in art. Students will develop a quality portfolio that demonstrates a mastery of concept, composition and execution in 2D design. This course is based on a student creating a body of work that demonstrates quality, concentration and breadth. This portfolio will be submitted to the College Board for college credit. As in any college level course students will be expected to spend a considerable amount of time outside of class in order to complete assignments and doing homework and sketchbook assignments.

AP Statistics:

AP Statistics covers the content of one semester of an introductory, non-Calculus based, college curriculum in Statistics. This course covers major introductory topics in both descriptive and inferential statistics, such as mean, median, mode, variance, standard deviation, linear and nonlinear regression, correlation, and hypothesis testing. Students learn sampling procedures, estimate population characteristics, find and interpret confidence intervals, test hypotheses, compare two populations, and develop chi-squared tests. Students also learn to apply techniques for normal, binomial, geometric, and other discrete and continuous probability distributions. This course includes preparation and review for the AP statistics examination. Pre-requisites: Completion of Algebra 2 with a grade of C or better or teacher recommendation.
