4th Grade History and Geography

Coursework

Week Twelve

This week we will be continuing our study of the Middle Ages.  We will be finishing up our study of knights and chivalry and review the parts of a castle.  We will then be introduced to William the Conqueror and the Battle of Hastings.  Next week we will be making our own version of the Bayeux Tapestry which is a famous tapestry that depicts the Battle of Hastings.  Students will also be completing their own Domesday Books at home.  I would be grateful if you would also remember to sign and return on Tuesdays the assignment sheets!

Wednesday, December 5th

·        Read from Famous Men of the Middle Ages two chapters:  Edward the Confessor and William the Conqueror

·        Chant your timeline pages two times aloud

Monday, December 10th

·        Chant your timeline pages two times aloud.

·        Make your own “Domesday Book”.  Use handout as a guideline but feel free to use lots of creativity.

·        Be thinking of ideas for your own version of the Bayeux Tapestry.  Your idea should be centered on the theme “The biggest day of my life….”

·        Complete Maps, Charts, and Graphs chapter 9.  Have a parent correct and initial.  (these will be collected soon)

My student has completed this weeks reading and assignments to the best of our ability at home.
