Course Description:

The 4th grade World History & Geography class will continue in their study of ancient world civilizations.  When we study history, we study the effects of God’s eternal purposes upon people and nations.  The students will begin with a review of ancient world history beginning with the Creation story moving quickly through the ancient civilizations until the dawn of the Middle Ages.  Core course content will be focusing on the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the beginnings of the Reformation.  Key figures of these eras will be studied as well as key dates.  The students will be using a helpful memory song to aide in their understanding of the timeline they will be composing. They will compile unit studies of various themes and time periods in history.  Their geography unit will focus primarily on the continent of Europe.  Geography terms, oral drills, and map skills will also be covered. Students will be compiling a cumulative geography binder adding a detailed section of Europe.

Outside Class work Expectations:

Students will be expected to complete additional assigned class work from text, assigned worksheets, writing assignments, Veritas cards, and various class projects and test.   Please budget 2-3 hours of coursework outside of class time weekly.  Weekly assignments will be posted on the website.  Parents are expected to assist students to complete outside coursework on time.  Illness and other exceptions will be considered regarding late assignments.   Grades will be averaged based on assignments, projects, and quizzes.
