Modern World History

Assignment #5: October 4-6

1.  Read:  Read chapter 23 again.  As you read, make a list of the names of people and the dates of important events.  For each name and for each event, write two to three sentences to identify and explain the significance.  When you have finished, you should be able to identify and explain who these people are, what they did, and what events rattled the world--with your eyes closed, standing on your head on top of the table, and wiggling your ears.  Really--I mean, you do have to wiggle your ears.

2.  Geography:  Continue to study and learn the locations of the nations of Europe (see map, page A8).  Be prepared to identify them on a blank map of Europe.  Quiz on Thursday, October 4.

3.  The Time Has Come, the Walrus Said: Choose one of the famous or infamous characters on the list to be the subject of a two page report.  All of you will give oral presentations (5 minutes each) on your character.  You should plan to include a visual aid.  (Due October, 28).

4.  Extra Credit:     Create a lovely visual representation of some aspect of the Industrial Revolution.  This should be suitable for hanging on the wall in the classroom.
