Assignment #23 March 11-13, 2008

1.  Read:

& Finish reading The Longest Day. Write a report on the book. Explain the way in which the author researched his topic, the background of the invasion, the circumstances of the day, and the outcomes (500 words; due March 25).

2. Primary Sources… Find a friendly person (an “informant”) who remembers either the Great Depression or World War II. Arrange to meet him or her for an interview—make a list of good questions about their experience. Then sit down, ask your questions, listen carefully, and make copious notes. Be sure to thank your friend before you toodle off to write your article.

Now, write an essay about the person’s experience. Your essay should have an introduction and a conclusion and should consist of a series of well-crafted paragraphs (at least 750 words; due March).
