A.P. U.S. Government and Politics

Assignment #12: December 11, 2007

1.  Read:  Review chapters thirteen and fourteen.  Write responses to the questions on the study sheets.

2.  Current Events:

Find articles on topics related to the presidential campaign.  Summarize and comment on each of your articles.

3.  Write:  Write a candidate profile of the person whose name you have been assigned.  You will research and write about your candidate’s background, experience in private life and in government, positions on issues, and funding sources.

Listen to at least one of the debates and include a review of your candidate’s performance—his or her strengths and weaknesses as a speaker and debater.

Evaluate the candidate’s base of support—both financial and electoral-- and any trends that are developing.  Conclude with your assessment of the person’s likelihood of success or failure based on all that you have learned.

Your paper should be at least five pages long.  Include a Works Cited page.
