6th Grade Language Arts Assignments

December 10, 2007 – Week 13

LC – Use the exercises on p.174 to review concepts from previous chapters before the test.  Especially look over the Verb Agreement section (p. 172, Think B) from last chapter (pp. 158-159).  As you have your parent sign off the Unit 8 checklist, review the concepts covered in this chapter to prepare for the test IN CLASS tomorrow.  Review Diagramming of DO, PN, IO’s.

WS1 – If you turned in the first draft of your Informational (Animal) paper last week, write the final draft of this paper.  If not, get as “caught up” as you can before break – you should have turned in to me final drafts of all papers (except perhaps the Informational one if you just turned the first draft in) and have a clean start in January.

Rifles – Continue to work on/finish your final project.  Bring it to class tomorrow, or finish it over break if you like.

Bible Memory – No assignment

CS3 – Review the material in Chapters 6-10 and the Review lesson covered in class yesterday for an in-class test tomorrow.  Please know the locations of the items on the map on p. 35.

Poetry – If you have not yet recited your Emily Dickinson choice, review it so you can recite word-perfect in class tomorrow.

Have a wonderful, peaceful, restful Christmas break!  See you next year!

Monday, January 7, 2008

LC – Read the blue box at the top of p.176 and do Think A and B on pp.176-177.

WS1 – Nothing today.  Gather up any skill builders or old assignments you completed over break and BRING THEM TO CLASS TO TURN IN. I will not accept first drafts of any papers written up to now after tomorrow.

Literature – Finish your final project for Rifles for Watie if you did not before break and bring it to class tomorrow.  Find your copy of Call of the Wild by Jack London at home or at a library to begin this week.  If you are a slow reader, you may wish to begin it to “get ahead.”

Bible Memory – Begin memorizing Micah 6;8.

CS3 – Read pp. 412-413 in the Golden Children’s Bible and do #1-4 on p.39.

Poetry – Read over Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken.”  Do you know what he is talking about?  Come to class prepared to share your ideas.
