6^th Grade Language Arts Assignments

Language C (LC) – pp. 151-152, All. The “Capitalization and Punctuation” section is a review from a section we skipped. However, I am leaving a similar section on the test to see how we do. I will NOT include this section in the grade for this test, but would like to use it as a diagnostic tool to see if we need to cover those chapters later this year. Use this section as a review from last year.

Write Shop I (WS1) – Using your sloppy copy and the Student Writing Skills Checklist (p. 6-13), write your first draft of your Describing a Season paper. Have your lesson 6 Skill Builders ready to turn in with this tomorrow.

Rifles for Watie – Read chapter 9. Answer # 1- 4 on Study Guide #2.

Bible Memory – Proverbs 13:20.

Christian Studies 3 – Read the Golden Children’s Bible, pp. 384-386. Do questions #1-6 from Lesson 6 on p. 21. Find Nain on the map on page 35.

Poetry – We will be working with Mrs. Rose in class on Thursday on our ‘Daniel Boone’ poem. Come to class with your lines enthusiastically memorized! You should know the first two stanzas of ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic’ now.

LC – Review Unit 7 on Verbs per our review in class (pp.124-152). Have Mom or Dad sign off your Unit 7 Checklist of Assignments Completed and bring it to class Tuesday to turn in with your test.

WS1 – Complete the “Identifying Elements of a Descriptive Paragraph” worksheet on page 7-2. Do the Lesson 7: Skill Builder, Day One on p. 7-5.

Rifles – Read chapter 10. Answer #5-8 on Study Guide #2.

Bible Memory – Proverbs 27: 12.

CS3 – Read pp. 388 – 391 in the GCB. Do questions #7-10 on p. 21.

Poetry – Begin memorizing Stanza 3 of ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic’. Learn the first two lines. Keep reviewing ‘Daniel Boone.’ Open House is only two weeks away!

LC – Take the Verb Test sent home on Thursday. Return it to school ungraded in your envelope with your Unit 7 Checklist.

WS1 – Read through and complete pp. 7-1 and 7-3 BEFORE you begin your ‘sloppy copy’ of your Describing a Place paragraph. Note the checklist on the bottom of page 7-3. Also do Skill Builder Day Two on p. 7-7. These exercises explain important concepts to be used in your next writing assignment. Begin your Sloppy Copy.

Rifles – Read chapters 11-12. Answer # 9-13 on Study Guide #2.

Bible Memory – Begin memorizing Proverbs 30:7-9. We will work on this all week.

CS3 – Read pp. 392 – 393. Do #1-4 on p. 23.

Poetry – Learn the next 2 lines of Stanza 3 in ‘Battle Hymn.’
