September 24, 2007
Wednesday, September 26, 2007
Language C (LC) – Make sure your check-off sheet for LC assignments in chapter 1 has been signed by a parent and review subjects, verbs, simple diagrams, run-on sentences and fragments, types of sentences (imperative, declarative, interrogative, exclamatory), and simple and compound sentences. Have a parent proctor while you take Test #1 in a quiet spot. Turn it (ungraded) and your check-off sheet in on Thursday.
Write Shop I (WSI) – Look over all comments on your first draft of your Describing a Pet paper and spend some time revising it. Rewrite or make final changes on your computer and bring ALL DRAFTS to class on Thursday to turn in. Also bring any skill builders from lessons 1 or 2 to class that you havenÕt turned in. Last chance for these.
Tom Sawyer – Check over chapters 10 through 23 to remind yourself of what has happened so far. Bring to class on Thursday your book, your old and new chapter summaries, and your ideas for irony or satire in chapters 21 to 23. We will have a quiz on these chapters in class on Thursday.
Bible Memory – Memorize the first sentence of this creed on God the Father. Read over the paragraph about Jesus Christ a few times. This is very complex if you are not familiar with it from church! Spend at least 5 minutes on this.
Christian Studies 3 (CS3) – Bring this book to class on Thursday, too. You will not need the ChildrenÕs Bible. Complete page 7, #6-8 from Jesus in Galilee, pp. 364-365.
Poetry – You should know 8 lines of your stanza by now. WeÕll try to recite together on Thursday afternoon. Keep reading your entire stanza aloud to get familiar with it.
Friday, September 28, 2007
LC – p. 124, Think A and B. Do page 126, Write. (Orally or written).
WSI – Complete page 3-9, Observing a Person Worksheet. Please do this thoroughly while actually watching your person in action. Do you have a good feel for how to describe him or her? DonÕt forget the Personality Observations.
Tom Sawyer – Read chapters 24-25.
Bible Memory – Continue working on the long paragraph about Jesus Christ. Focus on the first section and try to memorize through Òby whom all things were made.Ó
CS3 – Begin Lesson 4 on p. 8. Read ÒThe Marriage in CanaÓ and do Q#1.
Poetry – How is ÒDaniel BooneÓ coming? Memorize through the end of the sentence you are working on (line 10 or 12 of your stanza). I would like to hear as many of you as possible recite your stanzas next Thursday, October 4.
Monday, October 1, 2007
LC – p. 126, #1-10. Pages 127-128, Think A, B, and C. If these are easy for you, you may do them orally with a parent. In either case, have Mom or Dad check your answers and sign the top of each page including 124 and 126 to 128.
WSI – Write your sloppy copy using your Observing a Person worksheet. Review pages 3-1 to 3-3 before you start. DonÕt forget to start a sentence with a paired adjective, and choose vivid verbs and a strong topic sentence. Think about your title.
Tom Sawyer – Read chapters 26-28.
Bible Memory – Memorize through ÒHe suffered, died, and was buried.Ó
CS3 – Read ÒJesus Preaches in the SynagoguesÓ pp. 368-369. Do # 2-4 on p. 9.
Poetry – Work on the next sentence of your stanza for 5-10 minutes. Are you feeling pretty familiar with your whole stanza?
