Course Description

The 6th grade Language Arts class will review parts of speech, with special emphasis on harder concepts such as sentence complements (IO, DO, PN), all adverbs and adverb phrases, adjectives and predicate adjectives, and practice with diagramming in order to understand good sentence structure.  The first half of the year our composition assignments will come from the Write Shop I program and will include lots of concrete exercises to improve the studentsÕ descriptive abilities and word choices.  This promises to be an outstanding time of learning for the students.  The second half of the year we will write longer compositions with our new found skills, including finishing the year with a research paper.

The Literature, Bible, Memorization and Poetry sections of our course will be primarily taught on Thursday afternoons.   I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
