Course
Description
The
third grade History and Geography course focuses on the Greek and Roman
civilizations that flourished from 500 B.C. to 500 A.D. Because this
material overlaps with what the students learned in 2nd grade, our
emphasis will be on the shaping influences of those momentous times and we will
study the art, literature, government, daily life, and great men of Greece in
some depth. Roman history will be studied in a more linear fashion during
the second semester using the material in A ChildÕs History of the World and
other resources brought to class by the teacher. We will also study world
geography, familiarize ourselves with geography terms, and learn many of the
countries and landmarks of Asia and Africa (though not all). American
History Fridays will allow the students to read some of the history of their
own country at home.
