□ Review and  Learn vocab. lesson 19 by reciting outloud 2 times. (5 minutes) 

□ Review and Learn grammar nos. Lesson 19 by reading over and reciting 2 times both the text explanations and the grammar numbers. (12 minutes)

□ Write ex. 126 #’s 3 and 4 of A, B, C, D, E, F, and G  (20 minutes)

□ Translate the Helvetian Drive to the West Lines 22-40. (20 miniutes)

   Review and Study Roman History V form Ecce Romani II and answer the following questions: (short answer please, 10 minutes)

1. When did Marcus Tullius Cicero reach the peak of his political career?

2.  Who was Catiline?

3.  What happened to Catiline?  What was his fate?

4.  Who was part of the first triumvirate and what does the word mean?  How was it formed and why?

5.  What is the Latin word for alliance? Do we use that word today in political discourse?

6. What effort won Caesar a five-year term as proconsular governor of the province of Cisalpine Gaul and Illyricum?

7.  What were Caesar’s victories in his first year as proconsul?

8. Who were the “populares and optimates”.  Look them up.

9.What happened to the triumvirate from 54 to 52 B.C.?

10. What happened to Pompey in 49 B.C.?  What ultimately happened to him?

11. Outline Caesar’s subsequent victories. P. 80.

12. What does the title “dictator perpetuus” mean?

13. List Caesar’s reforms. (P. 81)

14. What ultimately happened to him and why?

Friday, January 27th

□ Review vocab. and grammar nos. Lessons 18 and 19. (15 minutes)

□ Write ex. 129 #’s 1-5. (15 minutes)

□ Study the Idiom, p. 428

□ Write ex. 131 #’s 1-5. (15 minutes)

□ Translate the Helvetian Drive to the West, lines 41-74. (do as much as you can in 25 minutes.  If you do not finish, it’s OK)

Monday, January 30th

□ Write and recite vocab. Lesson 20. Write once, recite twice (20 minutes)

□ Read, write, and study grammar nos. lesson 20 (20 minutes)

□ Write ex. 132, 133, 135, and 136 #’s 4 and 5. (20 minutes)

□ Translate the Helvetian Drive to the West Lines 75-90 (Do as much as you can in 10 minutes.  If you do not finish, it is OK. )

Extra Credit Opportunities Semester 1.

Please turn this in no later than Monday, January 30th.

 Choose one of the following options:

Make a time line for the Roman History sections IV, V, and VI, VII, and VIII of Ecce Romani II.

Include all major characters, dates, and events.  You may draw pictures to enhance the interest of your project.

 

Write an approx. 1000 word paper on Roman Life drawing on information in Roman Life Sections XVI to XXXIII of Ecce Romani II.  You may use illustrations to enhance your project. This assignment is for your enjoyment as well as academic enrichment.
