Math 3, Week 4
Home Assignment Checklist
Math U See =
Calculadder = C
The Yellow book= to be completed in class
Dear Parents,
This week for Math 3, the children
will review “Adding Money” or carrying.
Please read the handout titled Lesson 12 and Lesson 17 handout titled
Rounding to Thousands and Estimation. Please use the example to teach your child at
home and have the student demonstrate back to you by building the problem using
the manipulatives.
Your child receives
a weekly allowance to spend on Mrs. Owen’s prize box when she completes his/her
assignment. If you desire to review more
math at home, you may complete the Yellow book pages
at your own pace. In class, the optional
assignments will be called an odd job and will receive extra allowance money
for each page. It is not required.
The CalcuLadders will be given each class day
and will be provided for each home class use. The objective is the student’s complete
mastery of addition and subtraction facts involving the number 1 through
20. By complete mastery we mean, for
example, that when the student sees 7 + 4 = ___, he does not think “Uh, let’s
see, seven plus four is, uh, seven, (counts on finger) 8, 9, 10, 11. Instead, the instant response should be
simply “11!” If a child is challenged with
math facts in one drill, a review of the facts from the drill with flashcards
maybe a solution to overcome this challenge.
