Dear Parents,
This last week I noticed the kids need more time to master double digit
multiplication. We will not go on to
lesson 25 at this time. Each week I
will assign a few problems from the Purple Miquon book so that the students get
consistent practice on these problems. I would like the students to continue to
use the adding below as they have done in Lesson 24 so that they multiply first
and then do all the adding. Lesson 25
teaches the traditional way of adding and carrying throughout the problem and it
is merely a process. Next year, it will
be introduced as a short cut. This year
they are learning the place value. Lesson
9 of Delta will be skipped because finding the area of a triangle is taught in 5th
grade later. This
week I have assigned Miquon as a regular assignment, but please practice the problems
at your discretion of quantity. Next
week there will be a test on Gamma lessons 21-24 and to Delta 8.
