Spelling B: Week 1 Home Assignments
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Spelling B! I am looking forward to a wonderful year with your student using a program that children not only enjoy and find challenging, but one that assists them in understaning the English language.
I hope that you, as the teaching parent, will soon gain an appreciation for the spelling method if you have not already had the opportunity to experience its value. To assist parents, this year Live Oak Academy has developed a guide called Teaching Spelling at Live Oak Academy, which I hope you will read and keep handy as a reference throughout the year. This will soon be available on the Academy web site.
In our class this year, we will focus our efforts in the first several weeks on the phonograms, penmanship, and on building the first twelve reference (spelling rule) pages in our spelling logbooks. Not until this is completed can we start spelling words.
Please read the section called “Phonogram and Spelling Quizzes” in Teaching Spelling at Live oak Academy, to ensure you administer the quiz properly. Also, please listen to the audio tape or CD of the phonogram sounds. This will help you understand our assignment sheet and assist you in implementing the assignment at home.
