Spelling and Language Arts Assignments
First Grade
Phonogram Assignment: Continue
to drill all 70 phonograms! Please focus on ow, ng, oa, ar, er, th, eigh, ei, ey, and ph.
Congratulations girls for learning so much! Use the following two
methods:
1)
The
parent should show the student each phonogram card, and the student should
pronounce all the sounds that phonogram makes.
Make certain that he or she says the sounds exactly as indicated on the
back of the phonogram cards. Parents may
prompt the student using the instructions on the back of the cards if
necessary. Repeat this drill with the
phonograms needing prompting.
2)
The
parent should dictate the sounds each phonogram makes and the student should
write the phonograms neatly, in manuscript, using only lower-case letters. Please
continue to dictate A-Z since letter reversals occur at times.
