¨       Read handout on “Building technology” of Usborne Romans p.72-73 and circle all the simple machines you can find.

¨       Read from BJU science text 166-167

¨       Complete notebook page 50 ( we will go over this in class if you don’t have time)

 

Vocabulary:

 

Force:  Something that changes the position, shape, or speed of an object.

 

Work:  The amount of work done is calculated by multiplying the force times the distance the object has traveled.  Work = distance x force

 

Inclined plane:  a leaning, slanted flat surface used as a simple machine.

 

Fulcrum:  the point on which a bar rests.

 

Lever:  a bar that turns on a point.

 

Wedge:  Two small inclined planes put together.
