Dear Science 3 families,
Thank-you for sharing samples of your
landscape. It provides for wonderful
class viewing and discussion. This week,
we begin to study chapter 11, Trees.
Plant
Chant
It takes 3 things to make a
plant grow
Water, Sunlight, and CO2
And the plant makes sugar and
oxygen
Well this green stuff is
called chlorophyll
Plants are green because of
chlorophyll
And there are 2 kinds of
tubes in a plant
That are smaller than an ant
The xylem brings the water up
The phloem brings that sugar
down
Well you might ask, “What is
all this?”
We call this photosynthesis

Read areas of BJU chapter 11 if you have not read
Question
of the day will be on Chapter 11.
Assemble
and read: Deciduous trees have different
kind of leaves, if you
have
completed chapter 11.
Copy
facts onto your poster under the flaps which we completed in class.
Please
bring poster to class so we can continue to work on it.
Please
bring leaves from trees so that we can organize them one step further.

p.53 classifying
We will read 178-180 as a tool to identify the tree using
the leaves you bring.
Make simple leaf and compound leaf prints for the poster.

Have you read BJU p. 170, 173-177? Trees Chapter 11.
Color
monocot (1 seed leaf) and dicot (2 seed leaves) for the poster.
If so read booklet # 14.
Read booklets # 22 and #23 on trees.
Tomarrow bring a large shovel if possible. I have a special surprise for you.
