Standards for Students
Live Oak Academy supports Christian and classical education, and expects students to behave consistently with the goals of the Academy. The basic standard is set by Jesus Christ himself: “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
The Lord asks us to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves. Even more, he asks that we lay down our lives for each other. (Please read Matthew 7:12, Matthew 22:36-40, John 13:34.) It is impossible to make detailed rules which will completely determine how we meet these high obligations. However, the following points should help.
a. attitude: This is your education. Please bring your best diligence and vigor.
b. mutual respect: We are all here to learn; let us encourage each other in this.
c. addressing teachers: Please convey your respect by using Mr./Mrs./Ms.
d. punctuality: Please plan to arrive 5 minutes early, so that you will be in your seat and ready to learn when class begins. Please arrive in time to take part in the morning prayer and flag salute.
e. study time: Use your study time well. Let other students work in peace.
f. break time: You must have an adult accompany you when leaving campus.
g. posture: Demonstrate attentiveness by sitting straight with good eye contact.
h. dress and manner: The basic rule is to be neat, respectful, modest. Please present a cheerful countenance unobscured by hats or long hair, and undistorted by gum chewing. Please consult the Academy dress guidelines.
(Note: Point f. is legally necessary.)
Each student receives this document upon entrance into the Academy, and teachers and parents are encouraged to apply these standards to their students.
